LET’S GET VISIBLE!
With Rosie Robinson
THANK YOU
for watching me!
If you’re on this page you’ll have been watching me talk to Kayleigh from Epic Dog about visibility. Firstly, thank you for watching me and then visiting this page. Your time is precious, and I appreciate you.
As I said, from my point of view there’s the practical kind of visibility, SEO (Search Engine Optimisation), getting our business visible in Google so we can get found and get booked.
And then there’s the ‘putting yourself out there visibility’. Putting your picture on your website kind of visibility. The ‘selling yourself and your services’ kind of visibility.
A reminder of my thoughts on putting yourself out there are below.
Following that are my 5 practical top tips to help get your website visible in Google.
ROSIE ROBINSON ON
visibility
I know many of you feel super uncomfortable about being visible, but by NOT doing this you are really doing a disservice to the dog owners out there that need your help. By making yourself invisible online, whether that’s your website, social media or just generally hiding in the shadows, this means that struggling dog owners can’t see or find you, and they NEED you.
Because what you do is TRANSFORMATIONAL.
YOU CHANGE LIVES.
People get a dog with pre conceived ideas, generally with very rose tinted glasses about what having a puppy is going to be like.
To them it’s gonna be all pics on Insta, fun puppy classes where the pups all play nicely, sitting in the pub on a Sunday with puppy at their feet, and walks through a forest with puppy playing nicely around them.
And of course it is very rarely like this! And this is where you guys come in. You need to be visible so you can help people achieve their dog owning dreams.
Selling and being visible doesn’t have to be ick. In fact really it should be less about you and all about them. You should be talking about the benefits of your service and selling the outcome that you help your clients achieve.
Talking about the results you get for people isn’t ick, it’s just honest. Talking about the changes that you bring to people’s lives, the transformations you achieve with them isn’t you boasting, it’s you letting people what you can do so they can book you to do it for them.
It’s time to get visible. You owe it to the dog owners of the world, the bitey puppies, the reactive dog owners, the people that can’t pop to the corner shop for milk because their dog howls when they leave it.
Don’t do it for yourself, think of them and how many lives you can change by doing so.
Finally, start small and grow from there. I PROMISE it gets easier.
I know you may be fearful of people criticising you, but please remember these people are few and far between. The majority of us are all rooting for you, we’re right here ready to cheer you on, lift you up and support you all the way.
MY 5 TOP TIPS TO
for website visibility
1. Make sure you include your keywords in your meta titles and descriptions
My number one top tip that I still see LOTS of people not doing, the one that will REALLY help your visibility in Google is to optimise your page meta titles and descriptions. Bonus points for optimising each page on your website and not just the home page! In some website builders meta titles and descriptions are called ’seo title’ and ‘seo description’.
Not sure what these are? Check out THIS HANDY BLOG POST which is part of my SEO mini series.
2. If you are local dog trainer put your areas on your home page
Remember to include your local areas on your homepage, not only does Google love this your website visitors will as well. Tip – don’t just write ‘surrounding areas’ you need to actually list them. Your top eight to ten areas listed is perfect.
3. List your business in relevant geographic and pet biz directories
Excellent for creating links to your website and also having an extra listing for your business on Google that supports your website.
Useful for dog trainers are local directories, and pet business specific directories.
There are free and paid for directories, free ones only is fine.
4. Set up and optimise your Google Business Profile
If you are a local dog trainer who serves their local area then setting up your Google Business Profile is ESSENTIAL for being visible in those ‘dog trainer near me’ or ‘local dog trainer’ searches.
Set it up but not done anything with it?
Your homework is to go and make sure all sections are filled in. To post twice a week, to regular add photos and to ask clients to kindly leave you a review. Google LOVES when we use GBP on a regular basis 😉
5. Start a blog
Blogs are a great way of reaching more people and increasing your visibility in Google in a wider range of searches. Think about your locations, your services and your keywords and create specific content around those things.
Write a list off all the extra things you could cover that your ideal client could be searching for. The idea is that blog posts rank as separate entities, separate to your home page, so you can appear in more searches!
Blogs should inform, entertain for educate and are brilliant at deepening the connection between you and your potential client.
